Additional
Info for Online Students:
- If you have any trouble logging on or with various functions inside Blackboard, you can go through the steps in Blackboard's Browser Tuneup, or go through our Trouble-Shooter Guide.
- You register for Online courses through the Sierra College Registration system, just as you would for a regular on-ground class, and NOT
through the Blackboard website.
- Blackboard accounts are NOT created in Blackboard, but by registering through the Sierra College registration process, which then creates an upload file over night that is submit into the Blackboard system the next morning.
- Keep in mind that after registering for a course, you won't instantly have access to Blackboard. The Blackboard account process will run overnight and your information should be fully uploaded to Blackboard by 9:00 am the next morning, as long as your registration has fully completed.
- Your
courses usually do not appear on the main Blackboard page until the FIRST DAY of the semester. However, you can see your list of courses, both available and unavailable, by clicking on the Courses tab in Blackboard. The instructor will usually make the course available during the first day of the semester, so if you can't access it by the end of the day, email the instructor to find out the status.
- If
you had a Blackboard account through Sierra College as of Summer 2007
or later, then
your password will remain the same as you have set it
up.
- Please
note that you won't receive any confirmation of your online course registration
other than your class schedule. It is your responsibility to obtain your login information and login to Blackboard on the first day of the semester, similar to showing up to class on the first day.
- Keep in mind that if you don't log in during the first week of the semester, the
instructor may drop you the same as they would with "no shows" - if you have added
late, just be sure to log on as soon as you can, which is usually the next day after 9:00 am.
- If you have trouble logging in the next day after adding the class, contact your instructor so they know that you haven't dropped, and then see if your account is active later on that day, or possibly the next day.
- You will want to review this information regarding tests in Blackboard ahead of time if you plan to take online classes: Click Here for Test Info
